Te voy a contestar en inglés esta vez 😆

The rule about “por la tarde”/“por la noche” seemed unnatural to me at first as a non-native Spanish speaker, but I’ve realized that the concept has rubbed off on me in English. Now I’ll tell my family that I have plans “in the afternoon” and they’ll assume I mean around 13h/1pm when really I’m referencing something that’s happening at 18h/6pm! 🤣 I guess it’s because in the US people eat lunch around noon, and “afternoon” is understood here as soon after lunch. By 18h my parents have usually already eaten dinner 😂
